Sarah Nelson 

Having worked in education for most of her life in 2017 Caroline enrolled on a distilling course in Sunderland and joined other enthusiasts from all over the world to explore all the challenges of producing spirits and opening a distillery. Inspired by the whole process Sarah then went on to train further in The Netherlands.

The River Test distillery is situated in a setting that contains two Sites of Special Scientific Interest, the meadow and the river. Sarah is proud of the fact that she has overseen the management of these vital areas and improved the conditions seeing the return of water voles and other wildlife. The water used in the distillation comes from the same aquifer that gives the river its ‘gin-clear’ waters.

The gin has won multiple awards including Best London Dry Gin in the World Gin Awards. Sarah takes great pride in carefully selecting the botanicals used, To date River Test has produced 3 different gins each of which has won an award.
