Ann Forshaw

Ann Forshaw

Founder Alston Dairy

championed by

The Rt Hon Nigel Evans MP

Ann started making yoghurt in 1970 and in 1980, bought Bolton Farm which still provides the milk. Ann worked through some very tough years with plenty of sleepless nights but her persistence paid off and Alston Dairy now produces 300,000 yoghurts a week and has achieved over £3m turnover.

The business grew steadily with Ann at the helm. In the early days she would be packing products until 11pm. By the late 90s, Alston Dairy was producing 65 pallets a week for one supermarket, which equated to 80% of the business, high volume but low profit. On the strength of this volume the new dairy was built.

Ann sold the business in January 2023 but is still MD and still owns the farm that provides the milk.
