Calabrese Kitchen in Bournemouth is a beloved Italian deli-style café and eatery serving authentic Southern Italian food with a warm, friendly welcome.
Founded by Angela Piomatti, the kitchen offers delicious panini, fresh pasta, cannoli and Italian coffees in a cosy setting, making diners feel like they’ve stepped into Italy. Angela’s passion for great flavours and hospitality shines through in every dish, earning rave local reviews and loyal regulars.
Angela has dedicated her career to business leadership, community enrichment, and championing opportunities for others. With a long history in business, she successfully ran her own recruitment agency for many years, becoming a recognised figure in the South West business community. Her strategic insight and leadership led her to serve as Chair of the Institute of Directors for Dorset, where she supported and advocated for local businesses.
Angela also brought her expertise to the public sphere as a Non-Executive Commissioner for the Poole Harbour Commissioners.
Community has always been at the heart of Angela’s work. She founded and runs a not-for-profit awards ceremony that celebrates and supports young people, helping to open doors and create opportunities for the next generation — a cause she is deeply passionate about.
A proud Southern Italian, Angela’s heritage means food and culture are central to who she is. This inspired her to open Calabrese, a little slice of Italy in Bournemouth that brings genuine, authentic Italian flavours to the community. At Calabrese, every dish reflects her belief that “if we wouldn’t feed it to our family, we wouldn’t feed it to you
