Rachel Wood is a Canadian author and entrepreneur, based in Edinburgh. She is the founder of Rare Birds, a thriving independent bookshop and global online book subscription service dedicated to celebrating and promoting women’s writing. Originally from Toronto, Rachel holds an MSc in Creative Writing from The University of Edinburgh and spent a decade working as a copywriter before channeling her passion for literature into entrepreneurship. She launched Rare Birds Book Club in 2017 and expanded in 2021 to open a physical storefront in Edinburgh, which was named ‘A cult online bookclub’ by The Guardian and ‘One of the coolest new bookshops’ by The Sunday Times.
